What this building is
TEN93 Queen West Condos is a soft loft at 106 Dovercourt Road, in Little Portugal. It was purpose-built as housing in 2018, not converted from an earlier use. The catalogue records 134 units.
Purpose-built in the loft idiom: open plans, tall windows and exposed services, but new construction rather than a conversion.
TEN93 Queen West is a nine-storey condominium at the corner of Queen Street West and Dovercourt Road, with addresses at 1093 Queen Street West and 106 Dovercourt Road. It contains 134 suites above retail space at grade, in layouts that include studios, one bedroom plus den and two bedroom plus den units, live and work units, and seven two-storey suites on the eighth floor.
The building was developed by the Pemberton Group and designed by RAW Design, with interiors by Andrea Kantelberg. Rather than the glass curtain wall common to new buildings in the area, the exterior is clad mainly in panels: a sintered ceramic facade system in orange, brown and pearl tones, combined with aluminum plate panels, arranged in a pattern of colour and projecting forms. The building had topped off by January 2018, when exterior work was nearing completion and construction was expected to finish in late 2018 or early 2019. The cladding supplier lists the building as completed in 2018.
The building stands in West Queen West, on the 501 Queen streetcar route. Dovercourt Road runs north from Queen Street into Little Portugal and south into the Queen West Triangle, where the Art Condos building stands a short distance away at 8 Dovercourt Road.
