Why only lofts
Converted buildings are a genuinely different problem from the rest of the residential market. The stock is finite and known — there are only so many former factories in Toronto, and this site catalogues 287 of them. Each one has its own construction, its own conversion history, its own board and its own quirks, and none of that is visible in a listing.
An agent covering the whole city cannot hold that detail for every building. Covering one slice of the market makes it possible to actually know which buildings have persistent window problems, which have usable ceiling height as opposed to advertised ceiling height, and which are carrying deferred work. That is the entire proposition.
What this site is
A catalogue first. 287 buildings across 54 neighbourhoods, with the original use, the conversion year and the unit count for each, plus 32 neighbourhood guides.
It is also, deliberately, not a listing portal. There is no MLS® feed here and no unit inventory. Not affiliated with TRREB or CREA. This site does not display live MLS listing data. The portals already do transient listings well; what they do not do is remember what a building is once the listing comes down.
How the building data is sourced
Building details are compiled from publicly available sources. Where a building’s original industrial use has been documented, the entry states it. Where it has not, the entry says so and is marked unverified — a guess dressed up as a fact is worse than an admitted gap. Building details compiled from public sources and believed accurate; verify before relying on them.
How the building images are made
There are no photographs of the buildings on this site. Illustrations are drawn from documented architectural facts — storey count, materials, window type, original occupant — and are captioned as illustrations everywhere they appear. They are not restyled versions of anyone else’s photographs.
Buildings that do not yet have an illustration show a schematic block instead. The isometric block shown here is a placeholder generated from the name of the building. Its height, storey count and windows are arbitrary and do not describe the real structure. Researched illustrations replace these as they are drawn.
Registration and accountability
Real estate in Ontario is regulated under the Trust in Real Estate Services Act. Registrants are accountable to the Real Estate Council of Ontario, and a brokerage is accountable for its registrants’ advertising, including websites like this one.
