Bartlett Loft Towns

What this building is

Bartlett Loft Towns is a hard loft at 6 Bartlett Avenue, in Dovercourt Park. Its original use, as documented: Hard loft conversion. It was converted to residential use in 1984. The catalogue records 13 units.

A genuine industrial conversion — the structure was built for something else entirely, and the timber, brick and steel are the original fabric of the building.

What to check in a hard loft

In a genuine conversion the things that matter are mostly invisible from a listing photo: how the building handled its envelope and its windows, how sound moves through original structure, what the exposed services actually are, whether the ceiling height is usable height or duct space, and what the reserve fund looks like against a building of this age. Those are questions to ask the building, not the unit.
